TM Inks Agreement With Huawei; Set To Become The Only Malaysian-Owned End-To-End Cloud AI Infrastructure Service Provider

Telekom Malaysia Berhad (TM) today signed a Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) with Huawei Technologies (M) Sdn Bhd (Huawei), sealing a collaboration that will see further expansion of its Cloud services offered by its enterprise and public sector business arm, TM ONE. With this signing, TM Cloud α [Cloud Alpha] services are set to enable next-generation innovation for its customers.

Signing on behalf of TM was Ahmad Taufek Omar, Executive Vice President and Chief Executive Officer, TM ONE and Mohd Roslan Mohd Rashidi, Vice President of Sales, TM ONE; while Huawei was represented by Zac Chow, Vice President of Carrier Network Business Group, Huawei Malaysia and Lim Chee Siong, Vice President of Cloud & AI, Huawei Malaysia. The signing was witnessed by YB Datuk Zahidi Zainul Abidin, Deputy Minister of Communications and Multimedia, accompanied by Dato’ Noor Kamarul Anuar Nuruddin, Group Chief Executive Officer, TM and Michael Yuan, Chief Executive Officer, Huawei Malaysia.

Commenting on the collaboration, Dato’ Noor Kamarul said, “As the national telecommunications infrastructure provider of Malaysia’s Digital Nation aspirations, we are excited to be working with Huawei Malaysia to accelerate our digital services and solutions offering to the nation and strengthens our position as the nation’s Cloud Infrastructure Provider. I’m pleased to note that TM is the only local player with its own state-of-the-art core Data Centres and Cloud infrastructure with full data residency, locality and sovereignty in Malaysia and subjected to regulations in Malaysia. With these digital infrastructure and services, we can offer a complete data residency and locality in Malaysia. Combining Cloud, Artificial Intelligence (AI), and the most advanced cybersecurity practices and technologies for our Cloud operations, TM is striding strongly forward as the only Malaysian-owned end-to-end cloud infrastructure service provider. This collaboration with Huawei Malaysia is another milestone for TM ONE as we now have full cloud capability as a core offering from TM ONE to capture growth in Malaysia, which is expected to grow at a Compounded Annual Growth Rate (CAGR) of 27% in the next five (5) years. Telekom Malaysia Berhad (TM) via its enterprise and public sector business solutions arm, TM ONE, today sealed a Memorandum of Collaboration (MoC) with CyberSecurity Malaysia, the national cybersecurity specialist agency under the purview of the Ministry of Communications and Multimedia Malaysia (KKMM), to empower and strengthen the level of cybersecurity in Malaysia.

The MoC was signed in a virtual event by Dato’ Ts. Dr. Haji Amirudin Abdul Wahab FASc, Chief Executive Officer, CyberSecurity Malaysia and Imri Mokhtar, Group Chief Executive Officer (GCEO), TM. The ceremony was witnessed by General Tan Sri Dato’ Seri Panglima Mohd Azumi Mohamed (Retired) Chairman of the Board of Directors, CyberSecurity Malaysia and Tan Sri Dato’ Seri Mohd Bakke Salleh, Chairman of TM.

The event was also graced by the presence of YB Dato’ Saifuddin Abdullah, Minister of Communications and Multimedia Malaysia.

Telekom Malaysia Berhad (TM), via its enterprise and public sector business solutions arm, TM ONE recently signed Master Service Agreement (MSA) with Telefónica Tech, through Telefónica Global Solutions. The partnership aims to strengthen its digital infrastructure solutions which enables TM ONE to offer global cybersecurity solutions for the Malaysian Enterprise and Public Sector against cyber threats.

The MSA was signed by Ahmad Taufek Omar, Executive Vice President and Chief Executive Officer of TM ONE and Julio Beamonte, Chief Executive Officer of Telefónica Global Solutions.

The MSA in place will enable TM ONE to further develop and implement a global cybersecurity strategy for Malaysian market. Telefónica Tech will provide consultancy to support and build a holistic cybersecurity program for the development of TM ONE Global Cyber Security Operations Centre (G-CSOC). This includes training in cybersecurity services to increase the digital intelligence and skillset of its local workforce.
