Telekom Malaysia Berhad (TM), via its enterprise and public sector business solutions arm, TM ONE recently signed Master Service Agreement (MSA) with Telefónica Tech, through Telefónica Global Solutions. The partnership aims to strengthen its digital infrastructure solutions which enables TM ONE to offer global cybersecurity solutions for the Malaysian Enterprise and Public Sector against cyber threats.

The MSA was signed by Ahmad Taufek Omar, Executive Vice President and Chief Executive Officer of TM ONE and Julio Beamonte, Chief Executive Officer of Telefónica Global Solutions.

The MSA in place will enable TM ONE to further develop and implement a global cybersecurity strategy for Malaysian market. Telefónica Tech will provide consultancy to support and build a holistic cybersecurity program for the development of TM ONE Global Cyber Security Operations Centre (G-CSOC). This includes training in cybersecurity services to increase the digital intelligence and skillset of its local workforce.

Commenting on the latest collaboration, Ahmad Taufek said, “We are excited to partner with Telefónica Tech, a renowned global telco to bring world-class solutions to our customers. TM ONE, the enterprise and public sector business solutions arm of Telekom Malaysia Berhad (TM) and SAP Malaysia Sdn Bhd (SAP), has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for a strategic collaboration to accelerate the digital transformation of Malaysian enterprises and to improve their operating efficiency through digital solutions. The event also announced the appointment of TM ONE as the first local hyperscaler to become the Partner Managed Cloud (PMC) provider for SAP business suite solutions in Malaysia.

With this appointment, TM ONE’s α Edge (pronounced as Alpha Edge) will provide cloud infrastructure to empower SAP’s Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) solutions in meeting the business needs of TM ONE’s enterprise customers.

Commenting on the appointment, Shazurawati Abd Karim, Executive Vice President of TM ONE said, “The appointment by SAP Malaysia is another milestone for TM ONE as we continuously expand and strengthen our Cloud α offerings. Telekom Malaysia Berhad (TM) via its enterprise and public sector business solutions arm, TM ONE, today sealed a Memorandum of Collaboration (MoC) with CyberSecurity Malaysia, the national cybersecurity specialist agency under the purview of the Ministry of Communications and Multimedia Malaysia (KKMM), to empower and strengthen the level of cybersecurity in Malaysia.

The MoC was signed in a virtual event by Dato’ Ts. Dr. Haji Amirudin Abdul Wahab FASc, Chief Executive Officer, CyberSecurity Malaysia and Imri Mokhtar, Group Chief Executive Officer (GCEO), TM. The ceremony was witnessed by General Tan Sri Dato’ Seri Panglima Mohd Azumi Mohamed (Retired) Chairman of the Board of Directors, CyberSecurity Malaysia and Tan Sri Dato’ Seri Mohd Bakke Salleh, Chairman of TM.

The event was also graced by the presence of YB Dato’ Saifuddin Abdullah, Minister of Communications and Multimedia Malaysia.

Commenting on key aspects of the memorandum, Tan Sri Dato’ Seri Mohd Bakke Salleh noted: “We are honoured to collaborate with CyberSecurity Malaysia in this strategic initiative, which is aimed at elevating the nation’s cybersecurity network and ecosystem and strengthening Malaysia’s self-reliance in cyberspace. Kuala Lumpur, 12 April 2021. In a milestone event for Telekom Malaysia Berhad (TM), YAB Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin, Prime Minister of Malaysia today officiated the launch of TM Cloud and Cybersecurity services for the Government of Malaysia. As the sole Malaysian Cloud Service Provider (CSP) under the Malaysia Digital Economy Blueprint (MyDIGITAL), TM via its enterprise and public sector business solution arm, TM ONE will provide a comprehensive range of connectivity, ICT and digital solutions to support Government agencies’ Cloud Transformation Plan.

The launching ceremony was held at TM ONE Klang Valley Core Data Centre (KVDC) in Cyberjaya. The Prime Minister was accompanied by YB Dato’ Sri Mustapa Mohamed, Minister In The Prime Minister’s Department (Economy); Tan Sri Mohd Zuki Ali, Chief Secretary to the Government of Malaysia and Dr. Fadhlullah Suhaimi Abdul Malek, Chairman of Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC). The delegation was hosted by Tan Sri Dato’ Seri Mohd Bakke Salleh, Chairman of TM and Imri Mokhtar, Group Chief Executive Officer, TM.

Commenting on the event, Imri said, “TM is indeed very honoured to welcome YAB Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin, Prime Minister of Malaysia and the rest of the delegates to our TM ONE’s KVDC, the state-of-the-art data centre. Today’s visit is even more meaningful as YAB PM is launching TM Cloud and Cybersecurity Services for the Government of Malaysia. We are proud to be the only Malaysian-owned CSP, at par with the other global players. We are committed and ready to play a leading role in accelerating the Government’s digital transformation under the MyDIGITAL agenda with our Data Centres and Cloud infrastructure. The Government, through its Cloud First strategy, has targeted the migration of 80% of public data to this hybrid cloud system by the end of 2022 as a measure to empower public sector cloud computing services. There is a broad range of advantages and efficacy of shifting public sector services into the cloud. Thanks to its ability to handle large volumes of information, cloud services will enable Big Data, Artificial Intelligence (AI), Internet of Things (IoT) and other applications to be used to strengthen the delivery of Government services to all Malaysians. Cloud could also enhance the efficiency of data collection and management as well as enable the Government sector to quickly expand new smart services across different agencies at lower implementation costs.

TM Cloud and Cybersecurity Services for the Government of Malaysia provides full cloud capabilities (TM ONE Cloud α), comprises end-to-end cloud services – embracing Infrastructureas-a-Service (IaaS), Platform-as-a-Service (PaaS), Software-as-a-Service (SaaS), Cloud Professional Services and Managed Cloud Services.

Bhd. This strategic partnership appoints Cloud Connect as TM’s managed services provider (MSP) to further facilitate the Government agencies’ cloud adoption.

The Prime Minister also handed over the appointment letter of TM as the Cloud Service Provider (CSP) for the Government of Malaysia to Tan Sri Bakke. The Prime Minister was then brought for a short tour around KVDC premise and its Command Centre to enlighten him and his delegates on how the Data Centre operates and can support the digital transformation of Government agencies.
