TM ONE Steps Forward to Help Malaysian in The Battle Against Covid 19

On top of the telecommunication services deployed at critical sites, TM ONE also supports MOH’s Crisis Preparedness and Response Centre manned by its call centre agents attending to public enquiries.

TM ONE, the enterprise and public sector business arm of Telekom Malaysia Berhad (TM) continues to support the Government, especially the critical agencies such as the medical team and enforcement front liners throughout the Movement Control Order (MCO) period, by deploying voice and internet services at various strategic sites nationwide to support them in their operations.

Ahmad Taufek Omar, Executive Vice President and Chief Executive Officer of TM ONE, said, “As the whole nation – the Government, corporations, communities and all Malaysians – battles against COVID-19, TM ONE took immediate action to step forward in supporting the Government, especially the critical agencies during this challenging period. In addition to the financial contributions worth RM5.5 million recently handed over to the Government’s COVID-19 Fund, Government-Linked Companies (GLC) and Government-Linked Investment Companies (GLIC) Disaster Response Network (GDRN) and various other TM initiatives announced at the Group level; TM through TM ONE has always been supporting the Government even before the MCO period began – by ensuring that all critical sites operated by the Ministry of Health (MOH) and security enforcement agencies are well equipped with reliable, always on telecommunication services. These communications facilities are essential for a seamless communication and coordination between the various agencies involved in the COVID-19 crisis response.”

To date, hundreds of critical sites nationwide consisting of the Crisis Command Centre, Call Centres, hospitals and quarantine centres have been provisioned with voice and internet services; involving installations of temporary lines and the upgrading of existing services. These services, which cover both fixed and wireless services, are set to ease the front liners’ operations and ensure swift and efficient crisis response at the maximum level by all the related bodies throughout this crisis period. The essential services will also allow the authorities to collect, analyse and relay accurate data in near real time to enable them to make informed decisions about the next course of action. It will also enable the public to obtain accurate and timely information about the crisis situation through the various Government communication channels.

“Our support to the medical team and enforcement agencies does not stop at the sites mentioned above. As the Government deploys more critical sites in the Nation’s battle against COVID-19, TM ONE will continue to lend its support throughout the journey. We will always give the Government our undivided support, in line with TM Group’s role as the national infrastructure and telecommunication service provider,” Ahmad Taufek added.

On top of the telecommunication services deployed at the critical sites, TM ONE also supports MOH’s Crisis Preparedness and Response Centre (CPRC). The CPRC Contact Centre is manned by TM ONE’s call centre agents to attend to public enquiries. To date, the contact centre has received an average of more than 400 calls a day. This is in addition to the TM ONE Command Centre support for Malaysia Government Call Centre (MyGCC) and other Government agencies as well as enterprises; to enable them to continuously run their critical operations from home and on-site throughout the MCO period.

To further support our enforcement agencies, TM ONE has also distributed 126,000 face masks and 15,000 gloves to Angkatan Tentera Malaysia (ATM), Angkatan Pertahanan Awam Malaysia (APM) and other enforcement agencies for their frontliners on-duty during this MCO.

TM ONE will continually monitor the ongoing situation for developments and adapt our services to help our stakeholders, whenever needed. Telekom Malaysia Berhad (TM), via its enterprise and public sector business solutions arm, TM ONE recently signed Master Service Agreement (MSA) with Telefónica Tech, through Telefónica Global Solutions. The partnership aims to strengthen its digital infrastructure solutions which enables TM ONE to offer global cybersecurity solutions for the Malaysian Enterprise and Public Sector against cyber threats.

The MSA was signed by Ahmad Taufek Omar, Executive Vice President and Chief Executive Officer of TM ONE and Julio Beamonte, Chief Executive Officer of Telefónica Global Solutions.

The MSA in place will enable TM ONE to further develop and implement a global cybersecurity strategy for Malaysian market. Telefónica Tech will provide consultancy to support and build a holistic cybersecurity program for the development of TM ONE Global Cyber Security Operations Centre (G-CSOC). This includes training in cybersecurity services to increase the digital intelligence and skillset of its local workforce.

Commenting on the latest collaboration, Ahmad Taufek said, “We are excited to partner with Telefónica Tech, a renowned global telco to bring world-class solutions to our customers. Kuala Lumpur, 12 April 2021. In a milestone event for Telekom Malaysia Berhad (TM), YAB Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin, Prime Minister of Malaysia today officiated the launch of TM Cloud and Cybersecurity services for the Government of Malaysia. As the sole Malaysian Cloud Service Provider (CSP) under the Malaysia Digital Economy Blueprint (MyDIGITAL), TM via its enterprise and public sector business solution arm, TM ONE will provide a comprehensive range of connectivity, ICT and digital solutions to support Government agencies’ Cloud Transformation Plan.

The launching ceremony was held at TM ONE Klang Valley Core Data Centre (KVDC) in Cyberjaya. The Prime Minister was accompanied by YB Dato’ Sri Mustapa Mohamed, Minister In The Prime Minister’s Department (Economy); Tan Sri Mohd Zuki Ali, Chief Secretary to the Government of Malaysia and Dr. Fadhlullah Suhaimi Abdul Malek, Chairman of Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC). The delegation was hosted by Tan Sri Dato’ Seri Mohd Bakke Salleh, Chairman of TM and Imri Mokhtar, Group Chief Executive Officer, TM.

Commenting on the event, Imri said, “TM is indeed very honoured to welcome YAB Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin, Prime Minister of Malaysia and the rest of the delegates to our TM ONE’s KVDC, the state-of-the-art data centre. Today’s visit is even more meaningful as YAB PM is launching TM Cloud and Cybersecurity Services for the Government of Malaysia. The Government, through its Cloud First strategy, has targeted the migration of 80% of public data to this hybrid cloud system by the end of 2022 as a measure to empower public sector cloud computing services. There is a broad range of advantages and efficacy of shifting public sector services into the cloud. Thanks to its ability to handle large volumes of information, cloud services will enable Big Data, Artificial Intelligence (AI), Internet of Things (IoT) and other applications to be used to strengthen the delivery of Government services to all Malaysians. Cloud could also enhance the efficiency of data collection and management as well as enable the Government sector to quickly expand new smart services across different agencies at lower implementation costs.

TM Cloud and Cybersecurity Services for the Government of Malaysia provides full cloud capabilities (TM ONE Cloud α), comprises end-to-end cloud services – embracing Infrastructureas-a-Service (IaaS), Platform-as-a-Service (PaaS), Software-as-a-Service (SaaS), Cloud Professional Services and Managed Cloud Services.

TM ONE, the enterprise and public sector business solutions arm of Telekom Malaysia Berhad (TM) had successfully deployed high speed broadband (HSBB) accessibility services to 33 industrial areas within the Northern, Southern and Eastern regions; including Sabah and Sarawak, in February 2021. The implementation is in support of Industry4WRD, a National Policy on Industry 4.0, that was launched by Ministry of International Trade and Industry (MITI), designed to transform the Malaysian manufacturing industry and its related services to be smarter, more systematic and resilient.

The deployments followed the signing of a Letter of Acceptance (LOA) in July 2020 with the Malaysian Investment Development Authority (MIDA) – as the implementation agency for the Industry4WRD funds – for the installation of new high-speed internet network infrastructure to boost and secure data connectivity; accelerating Industry4WRD adoption among industry players and businesses. The deployments were completed ahead of schedule, initially aimed to be completed by June 2021, and are focused on systematically addressing and removing key connectivity bottlenecks in the priority locations.
